Antique Solid Sterling Hallmarked Griffin on a new sterling silver chain. This was hand made by hammering the design from the back known as repousse. Sterling silver was worn by nurses due to its natural antibiotic properties.
Griffin is a legendary creature with the body, tail, and back legs of a lion, and the head and wings of an eagle with its talons on the front legs.
About 15.27 grams of sterling silver. Pendant section is about 2 inches X 1 1/2 inches. Hallmarked for London England from the early 1900s.
